Rightists Published an Open Letter to the Chinese President Hu Jintao

At first, I’d like to say my stand point. I think that Nanjing Massacre had happened and Japanese Imperial Forces should be blamed about the Massacre. Then Okay, let me start today’s posting. A Japanese portal web-site “Iza” which is related to the hawkish rightists newspaper “Sankei Shimbun” tells an interesting news that was posted at 18:53 on May 8th , 2008. It says

“Committee for the Examination of the Facts about Nanking” headed by Mr. Hideaki Kase held a press conference in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo and issued an open letter to the Chinese President Hu Jintao. In the letter, the committee is asking President Hu’s perspective on research conducted by the committee, pointing out “The argument of the massacre in Nanjing is going to be denied thoroughly by the recent research”. Mr. Kase told “My concern is that so-called Nanjing Massacre would be recognized as historic fact in the world. Now it’s the last chance to prove (the massacre) was fabricated fiction”

(shortened and translated by aiueo5)

Is there anybody who agrees with Mr.Kase? It is said that the committee had sent a similar open letter to the Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao last year and has not got any responses. I guess, this time also, they will not get any responses. They say “it is going to be denied thoroughly by the recent research”. But they just use the word “recent research” for what they prefer.
There is hardly such a “recent research” which is common in Japan’s society. Instead, recent court decisions have indicated that atrocious war crimes had been caused by Japanese Imperial Forces during Sino-Japan War and the Second World War. I think that if they want to do such masturbation, they should do it in their small circles. Saying their delusion to the public and asking foreign country’s president for answer seems to humiliate Japan. And using the word “recent research” is just like the case of the forced suicides of Okinawan people at the end of Pacific War. Japanese rightists had once succeeded in deleting descriptions in history text book about suicides forced by Japanese Army to citizens in islands of Okinawa. They cheated bureaucrats of Educational Ministry as if what they called “recent research” had shown that there was no evidence that Japanese Army commanded people to die. In this case, too, right wings called their preference as “recent research”.

This post was inspired by Mr. Apeman’s post

And the two open letters to President Hu Jintao and Prime Minister Wen Jiabao are compared in detail in felis_azuri san’s post
