Tachikawa Flier Case, Japanese Supreme Court Decision
Japan’s Supreme Court dismissed the final appeal about a home invasion case in which three people are accused of. This is the final decision that determines they are guilty. What the three did was going to residents of Japan’s self defense forces and posting fliers which were against war and deploying the force on Iraq. Since judicial things are always difficult, you know, I cannot understand why the highest court made that decision. But at least it makes me think that since it’s an anti-war flier, the three were arrested and detained for 75 days. If it’s pizza delivery fliers, would they have been arrested? It’s wondering, when I lived in Tokyo, so many fliers were posted into my doors like everyday. Even “Delivery Prostitution” fliers were posted. Following is a quotation, from mahounofuefuki’s blog. His/her? blog always makes me want to translate it in English. I should say that any mistakes on translation or acknowledgement on fact are responsibility of not quoted material but me.
It is a global standard to visit home and to post fliers for political act. Japan’s denial for it means nothing but dismissing democracy and constitutionalism which are universal values of modern world. There is no doubt that Japanese Supreme Court does not understand how embarrassing their decision is.
